Massage

Thursday, December 23rd, 2010

Personally, I find it very hard to give myself some much needed relaxation time. Like many people in todays society I am involved in the daily grind of the rat race, trying my hardest to keep up!
When on the odd occasion I do get the opportunity to go for a massage, it is only then I realise how tired and tense I have been.
I always say to myself I will try and stop myself from becoming this way……but unfortunately I tend to fail.
I would recommend frequent massages to help you improve your health.

Exercise for life:

Tuesday, December 21st, 2010

I have always been a fan of exercise, since my early days at Primary School if I am honest!
My Mother thought it was essential I try nearly every type of activity in order to identify what I enjoyed doing. I am now in my late twenties and I am still active in a number of activities including swimming, running, circuit training and Yoga.
As I have always been quite active, I think of exercise as a way of life and not something which I have to force myself to do.
Unfortunately not everyone thinks like I do, however I would encourage those who have potentially not exercised since school to give it a go!
There is no point doing an activity you do not enjoy as the likely hood you will stick with it is very low, so try and find something which you feel you could continue long term.

Trying not to over indulge at this time of year!

Friday, December 17th, 2010

Like many people, I absolutely adore food! I sometimes find it quite hard not to over indulge in all the festive treats which are available in my local supermarket at this time of year. There is also the necessity of visiting friends and family and having large dinners, and drinking plenty of wine which doesn’t help either! Therefore, with this in mind I do my very best to chose alternative healthy choices whenever I have the opportunity to do so. Avoiding fatty desserts for example and opting for fruit instead. I am not suggesting it is easy, but it is definitely better for you in the long run!

Try something new-Circuit Training!

Friday, December 10th, 2010

Previously I have posted about going to the gym, and have also mentioned that I try to do different types of exercise to keep myself fit. One class which I tried recently is definitely one that I would recommend to family and friend…….circuit Training!
Not only is it a very social activity as often you have to work in pairs or even small groups, it literally enables you to work practically every muscle in the body!
I have been going for about six weeks now, and I can really tell the difference to my body! I feel not only fitter, but stronger as we do a combination of aerobic exercise and weights.

Yoga- give it a go!

Often when I mention to my boyfriend that I have been to my weekly yoga class and as a result I am quite tired and sore, he often laughs as he does not take Yoga very seriously!
He has never participated in a Yoga class, therefore I try to defend my hobby explaining that although it is not an incredibly aerobic activity it helps to increase flexibility and posture and is incredibly beneficial.
Even I can admit that I was sceptical at first, however I am enjoying it and as an alternative to going to the gym (which I hate), it really is a fantastic activity to help improve both body and mind.
